These Maps depict the designated Highways and Freeways within the City of
Los Angeles and constitute the official Highways and Freeways Maps of the
General Plan. Collector streets are designated and depicted in the
Community Plans, consistent with Transportation Element standards and
criteria.

Descriptions and generalized cross sections for each of the highway
designations (Major Highway - Class I; Major Highway - Class II; and
Secondary Highway) are presented in Chapter VI-A
of this Element. Selection and performance criteria for each designation and type
(Pedestrian priority; Transit priority; and Standard [vehicle priority])
are presented in Chapter VI-B.

Note that certain Community Plans and Specific Plans have
established modified designations and/or standards for some specific
highways or highway segments. These are listed in Appendix D of this
Element.
